The specific red glow in the dark powder is achieved through modifications of the zinc sulfide formula, with strontium sulfide being a key component. Additionally, calcium sulfide combined with strontium sulfide and bismuth as an activator, (Ca,Sr)S:Bi, can yield blue light with glow times up to 12 hours. The duration and intensity of the glow depend on the quality of the materials and the amount of absorbed light.
